Your monthly costs will go down but it requires a large upfront investment.
The overall costs to produce energy via solar panels are slightly greater.
There are other benefits though.

Yes, solar panels can cut down on your energy expenses. However, you need a lot of them to make enough impact on your energy bill.
Tax credits and rebates help offset some of the costs to install, try the website:

Which will tell you the tax credits and rebates that may be available in your area

It depends where you live.
In the UK the Feed-in Tariff starts today and you are paid to generate electricity, even if you use it yourself.
Feed-in tariffs ensure pv solar panel systems will pay for themselves and generate a profit. You will be paid for every unit of electricity you generate in a scheme which will last for 25 years. The DECC (UK Government Department of Energy and Climate Change) says “A household with a well-sited photovoltaic installation could receive over £900 plus bill savings of around £140 a year.”

yes, but they are still rather expensive clean energy option that usually takes more than 10 years to retrieve the installation costs, here’s more info if interested

all depends total power output of your solar panels and your power usage.you will need alot more going in than going out.also if you can make your panels cooler they tend to work better.funny that as they are made to be in direct sunlight.dazzer

With enough taxpayer subsidies, they will save on energy expenses in almost any location. Without government subsidies, they will not!

Probably, though it depends how much electricity you use (big electricity consumers benefit the most from solar). If you’re able to find an installer who offers a solar lease or power purchase agreement and will install the system for zero-down or very little down ($500-$2000), then you’re surely in for big savings. Check out http://www.sungevity.com or http://www.solarpowerrocks.com to find an installer.

The more units installed means that the cost per unit will go down. Think of computers. I have an old Mac that cost $1500 retail back in the last century. It had a whopping one megabit of RAM and NO hard drive. Today for half the cost you can buy a computer with many more units of power at a fraction of the cost. In 1985 hardly anyone had a computer…now they’re a source of pollution. Down the road not having solar power units on your home or business will be something like not having indoor plumbing. The idea of burning fossil fuels will like going to war with bows and arrows. Why people want to slow down this quantum leap forward is a great mystery….unless you’re a member of the coal and oil mafia or one of those politicians that stooge for these people. Give it a think!

In the year you buy them they greatly increase your energy expense, becasue purchase of the panels IS an energy expense and they are very expensive. Every year after that they will reduice your energy expense becasue they generate energy for you so that you don’t need to buy that energy from your electric company, and they use no fuel so, unlike a normal generator, there is no fuel cost. But the amount you save each year is a small fraction of the extra you paid in the year you bought them. If they keep working for 30 years or more, you may save the cost of buying them, but even then you have other financial losses, for example the interest income you could have gotten by putting the money in an interest bearing bank account instead of spending it on the solar panels. And a hail storm can destroy them, and are you sure there will be no hail storm in the next 30 years? Or do you want to buy insurance which will be a cost you have to pay every year. And after all that, what happens if much cheaper solar panels are invented 10 years after you bought your expensive ones? Then if you had just waited 10 years and bought the cheaper panels, they might have saved their cost in only 10 more years, so that your cost would have been lower after 20 years if you had just waited 10 more years to buy the panels. Or the cost of fuel may go way up in the near future and make the cost of electricity from your electric company go way up and you would save more each year than you might have expected. You may also get government assistance to buy the panels. In that case they do not cut down on expenses for the society, they just cut down on your own expenses, while the rest of society pays more in the form of taxes to give you that savings. And so on. It is a complicated calculation to decide if they save money, but most financial people will tell you they usually don’t save expenses. In fact they cost extra expenses.

Yeah one easy way of cutting down your energy expenses is the introduction and installation of solar panels onto your steel building structures.
The solar energy panels installed at top of the steel building structures help in the generation of electricity by making use of the renewable, solar energy.
Solar energy panels not only help us conserve our non-renewable energy sources but also help in cutting down our energy expenditures by a large extent.
