is there a was of like charging the power into some kind of batterie during the day when the sun gives my solar panel energy and then use it anytime? even at night? i am asking cause i have property that have no electricity but i can build my house on it if i use alternative energy? has anyone heard of anything like this working well and where i might be able to get more info about it

This is a very standard method of running a solar power electrical system. As you say, the panels provide electrical energy to charge a set of batteries. When required, the power is drawn from the battery, converted to the correct voltage and also changed fron DC current to AC current. During the night the curent is used to give light and also to power TV and computer etc – it all depends on the size of the installation. The batteries become partially discharged during this time. However, the next day the solar panels are again active and recharge the batteries ready for the next night. It is in reality not a good proposition to have the solar panels directly powering lights, etc, because when the panels are charging ( daylight) there is no need for electric lighting.Unless the installation is extemely large, it is not possible to run high energy consumers, wahing machines, dishwashers, clothes dryers, cookers, hot water heating etc from the solar panels.

Depends where you live, if your annual sunshine hours are high then you will save more than if you live at a latitude with less sunshine hours. Solar energy will not provide enough energy for a school, you would need a combination of both regular energy delivery to back up the solar power. I would use certified people, and for legal purposes it would most likely be required on school property. I hope your school decides to go for it because the long term benefits to the planet really do outweigh the big start up cost!

Do these panels support air conditioners? if not how many panels would i need to support fans and light bulbs for these thirty rooms every night? ANy extra ideas?

solor panels and very expensive and when your talking about running 1200w A/C’s and that big ol’ water heater, your talking some serious panelage lol

you’d be better converting more things to 220v then you would running solor panel

propane heaters in the winter work pretty good as a central heat system

invest in getting the bugs out and plan your con/breakfast better and you can increase your RevPar by a considerable ammount.

The more sunlight that gets in the more power out of a solar panel. Less ozone more sunshine.

Solar panels produce lower voltage DC. Household components want AC at a higher voltage (110VAC at 60Hz in the US)

To be useful, generally you have an "Inverter" which increases the voltage and alternates it. You also probably have a pile of storage batteries since otherwise you’ll have no power during the night or bad weather.

These days, people have hybrid systems, getting power both off the grid and from a local power source (windmills, solar power). Some don’t bother with storage on the idea that they put power INTO the grid when they are generating more than they need locally, and take it out of the grid when they aren’t producing enough. They use their local power company as a very large (cheap) battery.

You can only do this if your local power company will pay you for power you generate – but many states in the US require power companies to do that.

However, if you are cut off from the grid, you obviously can’t do that.

You can, of course, NOT use standard household components, but rather use low voltage DC components (like what people use on small boats). They exist, but they are more expensive. However, then you don’t require the inverter.

As soon as you want to use a standard voltage component, however, you end up getting an inverter. Its too bad because he process of changing voltages is inefficient. You lose a lot of power in the process.

You’re quite right, the amount of solar energy outside our atmosphere is much more than at the surface.
No atmosphere to filter out some of the radiation, no clouds or pollution to reduce the amount of energy.

How does the amount of chemical energy stored in plants compare to the electrical energy stored by solar panel/batteries?

Most plants are around 1% efficient at turning sunlight into a useful form of energy it can use. Bamboo is probably somewhat higher. Solar panels are somewhere around 20% efficient now I think. Trees are much cheaper to use for collecting solar energy if you have the land area though.

How do solar panels convert the Sun’s energy into electricity?

To put it simply, photons from the sun strike the Photo-voltaic panel and cause electrons to start moving which creates a DC current.This DC current can then be converted to AC by way of an inverter. Here is a good
